THE BATTLESHIP POTEMKIN

Directed by Sergej Eisenstein (1925).

"Based on the historical events the movie tells the story of a riot at the battleship Potemkin. What started as a protest strike when the crew was given rotten meat for dinner ended in a riot. The sailors raised the red flag and tried to ignite the revolution in their home port Odessa." (Summary written by Konstantin Dlutskii)

Music by Christoph Pajer (2005).

80 years after the premiere of the movie, 100 years after the original uprising in Odessa, a new soundtrack was composed to this film.

In my music I mainly use home-recorded instruments, manipulating them digitally and adding live played instruments to it. The music is strictly composed to the movie, trying to follow the rhythm of cuts, or bending a musical bow over them.

Influences by my other projects (metamorphosis, ground/lift, boo,...) are of course heard, though in my first solo project I tried to develop my own musical language.

The premiere took place in the Brno "Kino Art" (CZ) on January 12th, 2006.
